Bill Osborne Chevrolet Buick GMC is a member of OMVIC (Ontario Motor Vehicle Industry Council) who enforces the Motor Vehicle Dealers Act (MVDA). All professional dealers in Ontario are required by law to register with OMVIC, the regulator of Ontario’s motor vehicle sales industry.

The way dealers advertise will change as of January 1^st, 2010. Advertisements must clearly and prominently state a vehicles history if it was used as a taxi, limo, police, emergency service, or a daily rental which has not been subsequently owned by someone other than a dealer. If an ad includes the price of a vehicle, that vehicle must be available for sale and if an ad is for a limited supply of vehicles, it must indicate how many are available for that price.

Here is the big change…’All-In’ pricing is now mandatory. If an ad, sticker price, or website includes a price for a vehicle, that price must include: Freight, Inspection Charges, Administration Fees, All other fees, levies, and taxes…Taxes don’t have to be included in the price if it clearly and prominently indicates they are not included. Furthermore, licensing is not included in any pricing.

Also, it is a dealer’s responsibility to disclose a vehicle’s history report like CarProof.  CarProof is a report that shows: Cross Canada Lien, Cross Canada Registration, Canadian Accident Claims, Complete U.S. History, and Odometer Records. CarProof…”Ask for it”.
